Wolf dogs are pretty uncommon. There are many breeds that might look like they're part wolf, but only a DNA can really confirm.

At one rescue, they definitely have a wolf dog, and hes's just adorable. On Saturday, October 21st, they showed off the fact that their wolf dog absolutely loves kisses from mom:

I adore the work that Because We Matter Rescue does. Exotic animals are so sought after, but then they're abandoned because no one wants to acknowledge how much work they are. 

Wolf dogs are something that became very popular on social media during the pandemic. With the rising popularity of the "cottagecore" vibe due to the desire to the desire to romanticize isolation and the woodsy, soft, and smooth music of the time, many people became obsessed with nature. Part of that nature, for some reason, included the desire to own a wolf dog and the common misconception that they're just like huskies. 

Unfortunately, wolf dogs are a whole different animal (no pun intended). Even if you have a big house with a big yard, a wolf dog is at least partially a wild animal. Wolf dogs are prone to:

1. Destroying (chewing, shredding)
2. Digging
3. Constant howling
4. Being disobedient

A regular individual will probably never be able to actually train a wolf dog on their own, because the point is that they're not dogs. They have special needs, completely different personalities, and their own host of possible issues. Unfortunately, adequate research before getting one of these dogs is almost never done and places like BWMR are left to pick up the pieces. 

Just because they're not quite like dog doesn't mean they can't enjoy humans, though. Clearly, Argie (the wolf dog in the video) loves his mom, and it's obvious she's spent a lot of time building their bond. If you want to have a fun experience with a wolf dog, you can visit a sanctuary or rescue where they offer tours and, sometimes, opportunities to pet. If you've never been, you should definitely go: it's so fun!
